The funeral of Angelina Yofanka, a third year oceanic engineering student at the Bandung Institute Technology who was found dead in the middle of the Cikandang river in South Garut, West Java on Wednesday, will be held on Friday at San Diego Hills, Karawang, West Java.

Angelina went white water rafting with 55 other college students from an outdoors club on Sunday. She went missing after her raft hit a rock and capsized. The five other people in the raft managed to swim towards a main current and were rescued.

A team of 160 people composed of nearby residents, the regional police, Bandung’s navy and college volunteers searched for Angelina’s body.

Angelina’s family rented a helicopter on Wednesday morning to aid in the search efforts.

On Wednesday evening, the team found Angelina’s body on rocks not far from where she first disappeared. She was still fully clothed with her life vest on.

Johan, a member of the outdoor club, said a requiem mass was held today at Gatot Subroto Hospital. A mass will also be held in the same place at 9 a.m. tomorrow before the funeral at San Diego Hills.

Angelina’s story captured Indonesia’s attention, with the news of her passing becoming a Twitter trending topic.

Numerous condolences were tweeted by people who did not know Angelina.

“So Hok Gie once said, people who die young is a happy people indeed. Rest in peace Angelina Yofanka. Hope you are in the best place now” tweeted user @ineznatalia.
