GKI Yasmin have permission from a higher authority to conduct services from their church. But this is just the secular scheme of things. We all know that secular rule is trumped by divine law. The Bogor administration is bold because they believe they are implementing the highest authority of all- God. Why should the church move to another spot anyway? The issue was not with parking or noise or traffic congestion. Mosques cause much more disturbance in this sense anyhow. This issue has always been with intolerance of another faith and another type of lifestyle in the midst of a 'Muslim' area, a Dar Al Islam. If they move spots they will only anger another set of intolerant, righteously indignant Muslims. I don't see that as a peaceful solution at all. It's just moving the problem elsewhere. They will continue to be persecuted.

I'm a coward. But sadly we all know that the Supreme Court is regarded as a paper tiger, what else can we do against the mighty zealot Diani B? Sometimes we have to accept things that are beyond our control. The majority is always right. Just accept the best alternative of the three sites offered by Mr.Gamawan F. It will be better than attending service on the footpath. Injustice can not be prevented where a group thinks they are the owner of the land! GKI Yasmin leaders should also think about the safety of the congregation. No need to keep on fighting. Remember the unsolved Munir case. The powerful can make white black and vice versa. My sincere apology for this rubbish post. Maybe Gandhi's word Ahimsa will enlighten the GKI Yasmin pastor and his flocks. Diani and his followers must be proud with their 'hollow' win in this sad saga. Well done, Diani! Any ambition to be the next presidential candidate in 2014? :)

Perhaps the GKI should sue the mayor of bogor. The minister doggedly stating he does not side the mayor. Hellooo!!!! Offering alternative site is mutually exclusive to not following the Supreme Court ruling.

A rule is a rule, it's that simple.

I dont get this... If 1 can just ignore a legal law whats stopping the other to ignore this mutually agreed set of regulations that are supposed to be honored? Wow beyond me...

A mayor of a town ignores the outcome made by the Supreme Court ruling. This can only be a disturbing unethical issue beyond religion, and beyond ego. The world must be coming to an end when demons are roaming freely and pushing people to make dangerous and intolerant decisions.

Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi said on Monday that the West Java government had offered three sites that could be used by the GKI Yasmin church as an alternative to the current disputed location.

“There are three new sites that have been offered by the regional government,” Gamawan said at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs. “The dimensions of the land are the same, and there is even one with bigger dimensions. We want GKI Yasmin to see the location.”

Gamawan said if the church agrees to the offer, he would ask the West Java government to guarantee that the land will be given for free to replace the current church land.

GKI Yasmin has been in dispute with the Bogor government since Bogor mayor Diani Budiarto decided to revoke the building permit issued earlier for the church. Despite a Supreme Court ruling asking the mayor to reopen the church, he has kept on sealing the church and forced the congregation to worship on the side of the road.

However, worshiping on the side of the road is no longer possible, because the Bogor Public Order agency blocked the area on Sunday and forced congregation members to worship in a member's house.

Gawaman, who has taken over the problem from the regional government, said offering the new location for the church doesn't mean that he sides with the Bogor mayor and is ignoring the Supreme Court ruling.

“The government does not only see the legal aspect,” he said. “There is nothing wrong if there's a peaceful alternative solution that could be agreed on by all parties.”

He will discuss the possibility of moving the church to a new location in a second meeting between the Religious Affairs Ministry, the Police, the West Java government, the Bogor government and GKI Yasmin this week.
