New York. Authorities are set to announce the return of five hand-carved 18th- and 19th-century human skulls to Indonesia.

The intricately decorated skulls from the Dayak tribe raised suspicion when they arrived at a mail facility in Newark, New Jersey, last summer.

They had been shipped from Bali, Indonesia, with a declared value of less than $5.

Investigators from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection determined the skulls date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and are worth $3,000 to $5,000 each.

Officials say they will be shipped back immediately after a Monday ceremony at the Indonesian Consulate.

The investigation into the origin of the skulls is continuing.
