Actually, it is a good idea. Even better, the president should get himself and his ministers helicopter for their daily usage...... SO THAT THEY DON'T JAM UP THE ROAD WHEN THEIR CONVOY PASS THROUGH!!! Sorry.. I lost my cool.

It is disgusting. With everything that is wrong and all the things that we are told cannot be done because of a lack of money, they can find billions to spend on luxury for themselves. And as TGIF points out, the country has no viable public transport system and the roads are gridlocked, and they want to buy the President a plane so he can fly around like some clueless dictator from a despotic African hellhole.

Private jets, luxury cars, grand houses, endless trips abroad, everything from their clothes to toilet paper paid for on expenses, and gross monuments like the proposed new parliament building, where does it stop?

This is just another example of how greedy and vile are the elite criminals that lead and run this country.

The biggest joke of all, is for these corrupt a*s*h*l*s to talk about fiscal responsibility.

The House of Representatives has approved a proposal to purchase a presidential airplane, deeming the planned purchase fiscally responsible.

"Given the option of renting a plane or buying one, it's still cheaper to buy a plane," Arif Wibowo, a lawmaker from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said today.

"The price is worth the safety, comfort and function of having a private presidential plane," he added.

State Secretary Sudi Silalahi said the the plan to purchase a $58 million Boeing aircraft has garnered support from the majority of the House of Representatives (DPR).

"We can also negotiate more, so the price may be reduced by $4 million," Sudi said. "The planned purchase is an extensive process and it has been considered by the previous cabinet as well,” he said.

“The House has given us an encouraging push [to purchase the plane]. Obviously, we're thinking about the next government as well, not just the current one."

The House had previously questioned possible technical problems the plane could suffer, but the lawmakers approved the proposal after hearing a presentation about its potential benefits.

"We only asked the government to give us a clear picture regarding the plane, including its specifications and costs, especially when compared to renting," said Arif.

The plane is expected to start operating in 2013.
