Indonesia's House of Representatives Commission III on legal and political affairs plans to question National Police Chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri about allegations that three high-ranking officers were involved in money-laundering and tax evasion cases.
The charges come from former chief detective Comsr. Gen. Susno Duadji, who was himself implicated late last year in an apparent plot to frame leaders of Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Susno has been summoned to speak with the National Police about his comments today.
“Obviously, all Commission III members are monitoring Pak Susno’s case and we will also summon Pak Susno to clarify, if necessary,” lawmaker Pieter C Zulkifli told kompas.com
“Anyone who has purposefully violated the rule of law because their title enables them to must be punished. The police must be clean from immoral rogue officers, although we also believe in the presumption of innocence,” he added.
Pieter, the police must work professionally to fix their tarnished image.
