I Want Indonesia To Be Free From Corruption: Manohara
Teen sinetron star Manohara Odelia Pinot expressed her desire for the country to be corruption free as she joined in a rally in front of Hotel Indonesia at Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Monday, brandishing crocodile and gecko soft toys.
The teen model quickly became the main attraction at the protest.
Manohara and her mother Daisy Fajarina joined the rally held by around 100 members of an organization named the Red and White Troops. The demonstrators demanded corruptors be socially punished by providing a special cemetery for them.
“We demand that corruptors are buried separately from common people, in a corruptors cemetery, so that they will be deterred from committing the crime,” the demonstration leader said.
Manohara said she hoped Indonesia could some day be corruption free.
“I want corruptors to be punished severely. Indonesia can be free of corruption if every corruptor who works in government offices are fired. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the police and the Attorney General must be united,” Manohara said.
Manohara had previously said she would dedicate more time for social activities because she found starring in her daily soap opera series, which has now wrapped up, to be time consuming. She seemed to prove her words by taking part in the rally which took place under the hot sun.
“Mano is not afraid to get dark (from the sun). Mano could get in the car but any people out here have to stand the heat,” Manohara said, who often refers to herself in the third person.
