@Agoz..been reading a lot of your comments. Are u one of those Indonesians going around wearing the Pakistan or Arab national costumes, thinking its a Muslim costume? Just in case u don't know, these costumes were already around before Islam came. All the way from the period of paganism.

This kind of match will arousing the "rotten" nationalism (ashabiya) which very forbiden in islam. As rasul said: who wage war for ashabiya and die for ashabiya (nationalism, tribalism etc), they dead as a jahiliya (like stupid or kufr). O malaysian and indonesian. Get far away from useless nationalism, let unity in iman.

Jakarta. Indonesia's 0-3 defeat by Malaysia in Sunday's first leg of the AFF Cup final in Kuala Lumpur was ill received by some of the die-hard supporters of the Merah Putih team.

Many turned to Twitter to vent their anger and staged a "Twitter war" that for two days made worldwide trending topics out of #loveindonesia, #malaysiacheatlaser and #hatemalaysia.

The trending topics, which were sparked by Indonesian supporters' anger over allegations that Malaysian fans aimed laser beams at Indonesian players during the match, caught the attention of other Twitter users worldwide.

American comedian Andy Borowitz wrote this on his Twitter account @borowitzreport: “Got to the bottom of today's Twitter war: Malaysia is into Bieber and Indonesia isn't.”

Size does matter for Indonesia. World of Tweet, a Web site that records statistical and historical data about Twitter and all its aspects, says Indonesia is the third largest population of Twitter users in the world after the United States and Brazil. Consequently, Indonesian Twitter users have repeatedly influenced trending topics, especially during this year's AFF Cup. A few weeks ago, Timnas (the Indonesian football team) and Irfan Bachdim (an Indonesian striker) also became trending topics.

More proof? When the sex videos purportedly showing former Peterpan frontman Nazriel 'Ariel' Irham, actress Luna Maya and Cut Tari went viral in June, Twitter users around the world saw the rise of #arielpeterporn as the number one trending topic. Another example was the #prayforindonesia trending topic after the Oct. 25 tsunami that claimed more than 500 lives on Mentawai island off the coast of Sumatra.

According to World of Tweet, Indonesia's 16 million users account for 15 percent of total users worldwide. The United States leads the chart with 30 percent, followed by Brazil with 18 percent.

With this data in mind, the world can expect more Indonesia-related trending topics on Wednesday when the country will host the second leg of the AFF Cup final.
