Prosecutors in Tangerang have once again charged a woman with defamation over an e-mail she sent to friends, in a case that mirrors their controversial and ultimately failed attempt to make the same charges stick against housewife Prita Mulyasari.

Slamet Yuwono, a lawyer for the woman, identified only as I.S., a doctor, said on Thursday that prosecutors were seeking to charge his client with defamation under the Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law.

I.S. is alleged to have sent an e-mail to friends in 2010 in which she claimed she had been sexually harassed and almost raped by a colleague at Tangerang General Hospital.

The charge being brought against I.S. is the same that was leveled against Prita, who was accused of defaming Omni International Hospital in Tangerang after e-mailing to friends about the poor service she had received there.

She was later cleared in both the criminal and civil cases.
