BajingLoncat - point taken, although it is a bit different. The case you quote was about a predatory woman and multiple teenagers, and they were mostly younger.

Anyway, in the case of this story. I think you would find that the press headline would be more like: "15 Year Old Girl, Kidnapped by Brainwashing Fanatics, Rescued by Gay Lover."

@peterR: I guess you're referring to the spelling of pedophile/paedophile? If not, here's an example of a British tabloid calling a 26-year-old woman a pedophile for having sex with schoolgirls: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2924037/LESBIAN-paedophile-aged-26-preyed-on-schoolgirls.html There are more examples.

Professional counseling IS widely available (esp. since this family lives in Jakarta), but like in most part of the world, it's considered as a last resort because nobody wants others to know they have a 'nutjob' in their home. An old colleague had a nervous breakdown & her family preferred to take her to a pastor even after such a public outburst. Last time I heard of her, she still couldn't work.

It is true, and I apologise to those I may have offended, that I waxed too effusively about the negative aspects of religion. I understand that the girl's parents might want to put her into protective custody for her own safety, but NOT necessarily to undergo a 'cure' for her attraction. My argument is that her parents' backgrounds were inadequate to deal with their daughter's needs. Which party to this gave the go-ahead for a 'cure' that does not exist is uncertain from this article, but whoever did so, it is not derived from anything pertaining to reason, logic or experience. The girl needs real love and attention, perhaps professional counselling, items not so available in Indonesia.

@mauriceg the fact that she was in a shelter on the first day of Idul Fitri infers that she might not be a muslim. Sorry, your comments as I see it are just full of hate and prejudice. It shows that you are no better than those you hate.. maybe worst

Jakarta. East Jakarta Police are investigating a case where a martial arts expert was able to break her underage lesbian lover out of protective custody where she was being “cured” of her attraction to women.

The story centers around Tn, 15, who began martial arts lessons with her taekwondo teacher, Sj, 26, two years ago.

Tn’s father, Mb, was quoted by Kompass.com as saying on Tuesday that nobody became suspicious when the pair became friends until Tn left home for a month to live with Sj.

When she returned home in July, her parents asked the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas Anak) for help to “cure” their daughter’s sexual orientation and agreed to place her in the commission’s care.

Tn was placed in protective custody to undergo sexual orientation therapy but Sj was able to find out where Tn was hidden and managed to remove the girl from the shelter on Sept. 17, the first day of Idul Fitri religious celebrations.

Komnas Anak chairman Arist Merdeka Sirait confirmed details of the escape, blaming the shelter’s security officers.

“The security officers were negligent because they did not know that somebody was taking a child away,” he told Kompas.com.

Arist said Tn had admitted that she had fallen in love with Sj and had “sexual intercourse.”

He urged police to find and arrest Sj because she had abducted a child.

Though police are investigating, it remains to be seen whether Sj can be charged with any offense.
