Three staff members from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) were questioned at the National Police Headquarters on Thursday in connection with a testimony written by the commission’s suspended chairman, Antasari Azhar.
“We have been questioning three KPK staff members as witnesses since 9 a.m. They are being questioned as a follow up to Antasari’s report in Masaro’s case,” National Police deputy spokesman Sulistyo Ishak told the press.
Antasari Azhar, who is currently a suspect in high profile murder case, wrote a letter reporting that a number of KPK officers allegedly received bribe money from the fugitive director of PT Masaro Radiocom, Anggoro Widjaja. Anggoro is wanted in relation to a corruption case, but has fled the country.
The three men questioned on Thursday were investigator Ary Widiatmoko, investigation director Iswan Elmi and the head of the KPK’s law bureau, Chaidir Ramli.
“I was questioned as a witness in a power misuse allegation by a KPK leader, initials CMH. For details about the misuse of power or CMH’s status, just ask the police,” Chaidir told the press after questioning.
National Police also summoned four key KPK officers — Haryono Umar, Bibit Samad Riyanto, M Jasin and Chandra M Hamzah — for questioning. They will answer the summons on Friday.
