Indonesian Search and Rescue Helicopter Crashes Into Ocean Near Semarang
A helicopter belonging to Central Java’s search and rescue team crashed into the ocean off Marina Beach in Semarang on Wednesday morning. All five people onboard the helicopter survived.
The helicopter was on a training mission with members of search and rescue teams from other provinces. According to Metro TV, three people were injured in the crash, including the pilot and copilots who were unconscious. The two other passengers were unharmed.
The cause of the crash was still unclear. The helicopter was in good condition, but it was speculated that the crash occurred because the craft was flying too low over the ocean. The helicopter had not been retrieved yet and was still stranded around 300 meters offshore.
