Uncle Tif, why don't you just resign and let someone a bit more professional take over your job!

Twitting (or is it "twittering"?) all day long is not going to make you look better. I pray for it!

Indonesia’s Twitter users are profane, deliberatively provocative and, in some cases, quite young, Communication and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring said on Thursday.

“Excuse me but there are a lot of people who use ‘jungle language’” on the popular micro-blogging site, Tifatul said during a discussion about press freedom in Jakarta.

Some, he said, just liked to push people’s buttons: “You know for yourself that there are many troublemakers on Twitter.”

Tifatul is one of the country’s highest-profile Twitter users. He has taken his share of hostile tweets for initiatives like a recent proposal to create a government team to monitor the for illegal content. The idea has since been shelved.

The minister also noted that he has heard from children as young as junior-high age on the site. He said one student asked for his support, writing, “Uncle Tif, please pray for me because I’m going to take an exam at school.”

“I asked him, ‘What exam?’ and he answered ‘the junior high exam’,” he said.

Twitter is the twelfth most popular site in Indonesia, according to web tracker alexa.com.
