Americans! Don't even pretend to be surprised by this. You can bet that Jakarta had nothing to do with no journalists at a press conference starring the idiot in my White House.

Jakarta. Journalists from dozens of media were left disappointed after being banned from attending President Barack Obama's Indonesian press conference, with access limited to 25 media.

The press conference was earlier set to be conducted in the gardens of the State Palace. However, due to rain, the press conference was relocated indoors and the palace press bureau limited the number of palace journalists who could cover the event.

“I don’t understand why the press bureau has to screen us,” Hani, a journalist from an online news portal, told the Jakarta Globe. “I knew that there were plans to select those who could join the media if it was raining. But they should have come up with clear criteria of who could attend and who couldn't.”

“I’m disappointed as there is no equal treatment for all media,” Fin, a journalist from a Japanese news agency, said. “The press bureau should have anticipated the bad weather as the BMG had already stated earlier to prepare for a worst-case scenario."

Journalists were more outraged that all foreign journalists were allowed to join the press conference. Agus Suhana, a senior journalist working with Bloomberg, said he knew that covering news about the American president visiting was an onerous task.

“But this is the first time after decades covering the State Palace I have been so disappointed,” Agus told the Globe. “I expected to see him with my own eyes and get the atmosphere of the state welcoming ceremony as well as the press conference. It is disappointing that we have to watch it on television.”
