Sounds like an excellent chap. Those of you who, like me, had never heard of him, might like to follow this link. http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/indonesia/joko-widodo-the-best-mayor-in-indonesia/442164

Fine, but is he ready and able to confront the Jakarta 'juggernauts'?

Whilst speaking for others, what about himself? Personally, I feel he's a good candidate for the top position in 2014. However, it would be added value for him if he takes off his yellow suit. Perhaps aligning himself with the other blue? It might work.

I sincerely hope that Jokowi rejects all requests to become Jakarta Governor! He will become a victim of both a lazy and uneducated administration as well as a ball to be played between the political parties. He will become stuck in a loose-loose situation - and he is not worth that!!!

I personally would love to see Joko take over the Jakarta governor position and work towards trying to duplicate in the "Big Durian", the success he has achieved in Solo!

Furthermore, once he has succeeded to clean up Jakarta and win the respect of the people, I would love to see him run for the country's top position!!

That's right... Joko Widodo for President of RI!

A man with his vision, empathy and integrity is EXACTLY what this country needs and I hope that unlike SBY, he can achieve it on his own merits without having to resort to getting into bed with all those loser parties who are hellbent on raping this country for their own personal gain and watching it disintegrate at their feet!

Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla has said that Solo Mayor Joko Widodo is the candidate most suited to taking over governorship of the capital.

“I have spoken to Mr. Jokowi, just to let him know that I think he has the capacity to be Jakarta’s governor and deserves the poition,” Jusuf, using Joko’s popular nickname, said on the sidelines of a constitutional seminar on Monday.

Joko has been shortlisted as one of the top contenders for the governor’s job, due largely to his clean government platform in Solo.

According to a recent survey released by the University of Indonesia’s Center for the Study of Political Psychology, Joko was No. 1 among a list of possible candidates for the upcoming election on July 11.
