A demigod is being sought after to take the role of chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the antigraft deputy chairman Chandra Hamzah said.
According to Kompas.com, Chandra described the demigod criteria as someone who possesses bravery, a deep understanding of the legal system and integrity.
“The prospective KPK chairman must be able to strategize because we have plenty of enemies. He must know when we should move forward or withdraw,” he said. Chandra added that another requirement is the candidate must have experience in leading an institution.
He said it would take an extraordinary person to fill the position left by Antasari Azhar who is currently serving 18 years in jail for the murder of state enterprise director Nasrudin Zulkarnaen.
The new chairman must also have a clean reputation and be an ideal example of a law enforcement official.
“So, whoever is chosen must not have a tarnished past because it could be used by people who try to block corruption eradication by digging old files and finding whatever dirt they could use against the new chairman for their own ends,” Chandra said.
On Tuesday, the Minister for Legal and Human Rights Patrialis Akbar officially invited applications for the post.
Interested applicants must submit a number of documents including a complete resume, a copy of their taxpayer card, and official certificate stating that he or she has had at least 15 years of legal experience.
