The Corruption Eradication Commission denied on Thursday receiving reports from high-profile graft suspect Muhammad Nazaruddin in connection to alleged corruption inside state utility company Perusahaan Listrik Negara.

Nazaruddin, who is on trial for rigging a tender linked to last year’s Southeast Asian Games, accused Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum on Wednesday of receiving Rp 80 billion ($9 million) in kickbacks from a Rp 2.2 trillion project to build power plants in East Kalimantan and Riau.

Nazaruddin, a former Democratic Party treasurer, claimed he had submitted all of the evidence to the antigraft body known as the KPK.

“We haven’t received any such evidence [from Nazaruddin],” KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Thursday.

Johan said the remarks were not enough for the KPK to launch a probe into the case.

On Wednesday, Nazaruddin told reporters he had submitted to the KPK a BlackBerry message from a woman identified as Wila, saying she had told him that money had been funneled to Anas. Nazaruddin also accused State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan and Democratic Party politician Sutan Bhatoegana of being involved in the scheme.

Nazaruddin alleged that he, Dahlan, Sutan and Anas met at the Sultan Hotel in South Jakarta to discuss the project two weeks prior to the alleged payoffs. At the time, Dahlan was the director of PLN.

“I have the money for Anas and Dahlan,” Nazaruddin quoted a message from Wila as saying.

On Thursday, Dahlan joked about Nazaruddin’s allegations.

“Why don’t you trace the money? If you find it, you can keep it because I didn’t receive anything,” he said.

Dahlan said that during his time as PLN director, he only handle projects directly financed by the state utility company. The power plant projects, he continued, were handled by the central government.

This is not the first allegation laid by Nazaruddin against Anas.

Previously, Nazaruddin accused Anas of receiving money in the SEA Games case, for which Nazaruddin is now on trial. Nazaruddin also accused Anas of rigging the tender for the construction of a sports stadium in Hambalang, West Java.

The KPK is conducting a preliminary investigation in the Hambalang case but has not named any suspects.

KPK chairman Abraham Samad said on Tuesday that new suspects had been identified in the bribery scandal centered around the SEA Games.

“We already have a prospective suspect for the athletes’ village case,” he said. “We’ll definitely announce it soon. If we name them now, there’s a possibility they could flee.”
