cuba, do consider the end result. Even for revolutionary fighters it must also start with their mind, not the gun, guns was only their tool not their rage expression. And when u start seeing stones, weapons, rage, &guns as the primary element to change u're starting to think like the suicide bombers.

enakajah & lauren:U're right I'm actually very M.K.Gandhi leaning,it was his mind &compassionate action that brought down the british empire. In the US,it was the revolutionaries' mind &thinkers that repell subjugation of the colony. It must start with the mind, the guns & cannons r just tools, rage shouldn't be the primary driver of rebellion. To liberate one's body, the mind must first be liberated. Nelson mandela was a young hot head full of rage against injustice, until he liberated his mind ironically while in prison, S.Africans didn't have hope & have high mistrust with each other (white vs. blacks), the situation was even more terrible than indo currently for the regular black folks, it wasn't the stone throwing & slogans that cause the change as mandela realized, it was to build trust & change of mindset & hope. Education is not the best kept secret of progress in advanced nations, it is the 1st & last solution, if u want to take up arms for active resistance like in

The situation may be sad, but what should be more alarming is the mind contamination of the "lost hope" indo youngsters from reading postings from here filled with "no future" vision of the many foreigners claiming to be on the side of the people. If u seem to think there is no hope then pls keep that to yourself DD, bcs the people do need hope.

DD: U don't want change,u're happy enough complaining just about everything here:"Yes sadly enough" "I'm afraid it'll go down that road" "It broke my heart" "How great could it have been" blah...blah rants. When there's tiny bit of change, the dismissing vultures r flocking on the topic, many basically saying "yeah I agree with u DD,bcs u're so experienced at dealing with craps all ur life u don't know what else to do but to lose hope" Many younger less experienced ones sadly seems to agree, their pessimistic views directly attributed to ur posts. My single posts may be large, but nothing compared to the many postings abt lost of hope,&there's nothing else to do but people should damage things to fight back,& when I post an alternative it's simply dismissed as "zero substance rhetoric" nono..no worthy rebuttal at all, just label me as "irrational" "wierd" "lunatic" "hot air balloon" "intoxicated" "bollocks" "silly" & the latest one "neo-liberal".

A large rally against the abuse of landowners’ rights outside the House of Representatives building in Jakarta turned rowdy on Thursday when the crowd, numbering at least 1,000, knocked down the front gate leading to the building and attempted to go inside.

One thousand police and security officers armed with riot shields and backed up by water cannons secured the front gate, temporarily blocking access either in or out. Media personnel inside the complex were barred from exiting.

At least two people were arrested as a handful of protesters managed to slip through police lines and make their way into the grounds, leading police to chase them down.

The protesters, largely made up of farmers and representing some 45 different community organizations, also threw chunks of wood and stones while shouting and chanting slogans calling for the resignation of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s administration.

Participants expressed anger at the land conflicts that have resulted in the recent killing of villagers in Mesuji and the police’s heavy-handed repression of protests in Sape, West Nusa Tenggara.

“We want the land of the people to be returned to the people. Fishermen, farmers and workers also need to be taken care of. We’re not supposed to be ignored and while the government favors the businessman,” one union spokesman said in a speech.

“Let’s fight,” he continued. “Don’t let ourselves get treated like this. SBY-Boediono should resign.”

The protesters had traveled to the House complex after staging an earlier rally outside the State Palace.

Also on Thursday, members of Indonesia’s hard-line Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) stoned the Ministry of Home Affairs in Central Jakarta, just a day after the minister earlier accused religious groups of “spreading lies” during an ongoing dispute over alcohol sales.

A crowd estimated at around 1,000 people, comprising members of the FPI and Islamic People’s Forum (FUI), descended on the ministry on Jalan Merdeka Utara at 11 a.m., pelting the building with stones and breaking windows.
