An executive bitten by a crocodile while golfing in Malacca has accepted 43,000 ringgit ($13,000) in compensation, according to Malaysia’s Bernama news agency.

Hong Kee Siong was attacked at the A’Famosa Golf Resort on Chinese New Year’s eve six years ago.

In a 2004 lawsuit, Hong claimed a crocodile grabbed him while he was looking for his golf ball and tried to drag him to a pond near “Crocodile Nine, Hole 7”.

Hong escaped after hitting the reptile on the head. He said he required 38 stitches on his left leg and continued to suffer emotional trauma.

In its defense, the resort said it had adequately warned guests through public signs and notices.

Hong accepted the resort’s offer before a scheduled court hearing on Wednesday.
