Let's give the lady a break guys! Take it in the context of what she said and give credit when it's due. I believe she's done a better job than you guys making bias comments.

C'mon Valkyrie, if anyone is being biased, it's probably you, towards a beautiful woman that is (I'll give her that). I'm just merely stating the bloody obvious. Anyone who reads this article and doesn't thinks so is either:

1. Biased toward a beautiful woman with a voluptuous body.

2. Completely naive

She doesn't even have an NPWP yet, and I doubt she pays her taxes accordingly, I mean rarely anyone does in this country. I bet you the other eight petitioners have similar cases. All of these reek with hypocrisy and irony, so pleaseee, excuse us for being "biased".

I am all for Manohara Odelia Pinot having her say. Time will tell if she is sincere or not. Of course some celebrities get involved in stuff such as this with an ulterior motive, but that is hardly their exclusive domain. I suspect that half the politicians protesting against this scandal are thinking more about themselves and their parties rather than the country and the people. There is an awful lot of good done around the world by people in the film and music industries, and they tend to look at things in a more down to earth way, just like us ordinary folk. I read her original letter printed just a couple of days ago and was impressed. Stupid she ain't, so I am all for her getting stuck in.

welliam - frankly, I am at times puzzled with this fiasco. Right now, who can really and honestly tell what's "truly" going on?

I wonder if she really understands the whole issue of the Century Bank case

Don't forget...she's holding the hot potato whilst you guys holler and bleat!

As for you, mr. wise guy yozeir, please quit that stupid phrase you keep repeating. It's becoming quite silly.

After a brief stint in the world of soap operas, celebrity Manohara Odelia Pinot now appears eager to play a part on the political stage. She filed a demand for a judicial review on a law governing the financial safety net, along with eight other individuals, with the Constitutional Court on Tuesday.

The move came after a surprise visit to the inaugural plenary session of the new House of Representatives in October and a high-profile appearance at an antigraft street rally last month.

With the eight other petitioners, Manohara demanded that two articles be dropped from a law that validated a 2008 government regulation in lieu of law (perppu). One of the articles allowed the central bank to provide emergency financing to ailing banks found to be a threat to the stability of the country’s financial system. Another article surrounds how such a threat would be determined and how the necessary funds would be taken from the budget.

The other applicants were: Manohara’s mother, Daisy Fajarina, Adhie Massardi, Sri Style Tri, Agus Wahid, Agus Joko Pramono, Syamsudin Andi Iskandar, Joula Dewi and Ismail Rumadan.

According to Farhat Abbas, the applicants’ attorney, Manohara argued that the articles they were seeking to get dropped were the ones on which the government based the controversial disbursement of Rp 6.7 trillion ($710.2 million) to bail out Bank Century last year.

Manohara and the other applicants, Farhat said, were of the opinion that the money should have been used to enhance public prosperity rather than to help a privately owned bank.

Manohara’s petition also states that the perppu was issued to provide legal protection for the finance minister, Bank Indonesia, and the Bank Deposit Insurance Agency (LPS) in bailing out Bank Century.

Farhat added that Manohara joined as an applicant as “a law-abiding citizen who pays taxes,” and because of her public duty to exercise social control over the law.

However, when asked, Farhat said Manohara did not yet hold a tax registration number, but that she had nonetheless been paying income tax.

The petitioners also demanded that those involved in the bailout, including former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Vice President Boediono, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani. “We asked that the hearing starts on Dec. 7,” Farhat said.

A clerk of the Constitutional Court, Wirianto, received the demand for a judicial review.
