agree totally with Valkyrie here. For pity sake give the girl a break. Being a beauty queen is not really the sort of thing I would like on my daughter's CV, as they are kind of seen as bimbo's across the West, but hey, she's doing more for Indonesia than most other Indonesians. i suspect the story of the boyfriend with multiple girlfriends is an invention of her sponsor, who mistakenly think its cool, but its not, its slutty and degrading for women, which I actually believe beauty contests are anyway.

Both AAs:

Sorry chaps, but I disagree. Our national language is Indonesian and a translator should be made available for the contestants.

Once again, I would place the blame on the organizers, both our local and the pageant.

Let me ask a question here. Is there a rule that disallows a "dumb" person to contest? What say you guys?

The solution is, before sending any Indonesian representative in international event they must have intensive English class first !!!

A YouTube video of Miss Indonesia, Qory Sandioriva, answering interview questions in broken English during a preliminary round of the Miss Universe 2010 pageant, has provoked criticism of her abilities.

The video, posted on August 15, had been viewed more than 23,000 times and garnered hundreds of comments.

It has also been circulated on the social networking site Facebook and drawn many comments with the majority critical of her attempts to speak English.

During the video, the interviewer asked her what was the best advice she could give to a man.

"I think when you down the women can make you up, and I think the women can be said that "I have advice for you" if you way up, you have to be nice with people, include women, so when you down, women can be nice with you,” Qory answered nervously.

Her answer invited many reactions from YouTube users. A user by the name of Nanieshimasu said that Qory's poor performance has “once again shown that Indonesia has failed to select a qualified candidate for Miss Universe.”

"Language is one of the most important factors, therefore you shouldn't force yourself to speak English. Don't let language barriers bury your true potential. It's not perfect but i believe it would be better to use a translator," Nanieshimasu wrote.

Another user, Eriqueque was less forgiving about Qory saying that the Puteri Indonesia Foundation, which organizes Miss Indonesia beauty pageant and sponsors her participation at Miss Universe 2010, had failed to prepare Qory to compete in the international event.

"When she was selected as Puteri Indonesia, I thought, oh well, she's naturally pretty and has a lot of potential. Qory has had at least one full year to prepare herself and it's obvious that she's been slacking off," he wrote.

Despite many harsh comments, some Internet users still believed that Qory has done her best to impress the judges.

"Show some support, English is not our mother tongue, bear with her," an anonymous YouTube user wrote.

Radio announcer Silfia Ahmad said that Qory's poor English was the least of her problems.

"Qory went on and on about her bad experience of dating a guy with multiple girlfriends, that's not proper," she said.

However, Silfia said that Qory should not be solely blamed for the interview. She said that the Puteri Indonesia foundation should prepare more thoroughly before sending Qory to compete in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"I'm sure in a way she's an intelligent girl, but the team should know better. If she can't speak English fluently then don't use English — use an interpreter instead."

The Miss Universe 2010 grand final is being held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday.

The Putri Indonesia Foundation wrote on its Web site that Qory would wear an evening gown designed by Indonesian designer Lenny Agustin.
