A 14-year-old girl reported missing in Tangerang, Banten, has been found and an 18-year-old man, who claims to be her boyfriend, has been arrested for alleged kidnapping by Jakarta Police.

Febriari or Ari, 18, was detained by the police in Jatiuwung fishermen’s village, Tangerang, early on Tuesday morning. He was walking with Marietta Nova Triani, 14, a girl who had been reported missing since Saturday. Her parents told the police that Nova went missing after she met with a man at her uncle’s house in BSD, Tangerang, on Saturday.

Nova was originally from Surabaya, East Java. She was in Tangerang to attend a relative’s wedding.

It was Nova’s father who first mentioned Ari’s name to the police because he knew that Nova had been communicating through Facebook as well as phoning him. Ari, who used the name Arie Power, wrote on Facebook that his relationship status was “married to Marietta Nova Triani.” He also posted some of Nova’s pictures on his page.

Ari was taken to Jakarta Police Headquarters for interrogation. Ari, a sophomore high school student, was later named as a suspect after admitting that he had sex with the teenage girl, but he insisted the intercourse was by mutual consent.

“The suspect’s name is Febriari. He admitted having had sex three times with the victim at his mother’s house in Serang,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar told SCTV. Boy added that the suspect was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Ari would be charged for taking an under-age child without their parents’ permission.

Nova was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for medical examination. Her family had arrived at the Jakarta Police Headquarters to pick her up.
