Nasrudin Wanted To Complain About Antasari To Indonesian First Lady: Friend

A legal expert who was a close friend of murdered businessman Nasrudin Zulkarnaen told South Jakarta Court on Tuesday that an angry Nasrudin planned to tell Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono about Antasari Azhar’s alleged harassment of his third wife, Rani Juliani.

Jeffry Lumempouw gave his testimony at Antasari’s hearing for the murder. Jeffry also said in his testimony that Nasrudin showed him a text message which he claimed was sent by Antasari.

“The text said, ‘this is our problem, internal problem. Only we need to know (about) this. If you blow it up, you’ll find out the consequences’,” Jeffry told the court.

Jeffry said he was told by Nasrudin that the matter was about sexual harassment, but he admitted he did not believe the text message came from Antasari. Nasrudin also allegedly told Jeffry that he would tell Ani Yudhoyono about Antasari’s conduct so that it would become a national affair.

“He wanted to report it to Ibu Ani, but I prevented him from doing so. I said ‘don’t do that unless you have a strong reason’,” he said.

Jeffry also admitted he liked to gamble when playing golf with Nasrudin. After gambling, they would pray to ask for God’s forgiveness. However, Jeffry said he did not know if Nasrudin worked at PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran.

“You knew Nasrudin closely but how come you did not know where he worked?,” asked Antasari’s lawyer M. Assegaf.

“Well, I just played golf with him and gambled,” Jeffry said.

“So, you prayed hard after you gambled at golf?” asked Assegaf.

“I committed sins on the golf course so I prayed, so my sins would be reduced,” Jeffry said, sparking laughter from the gallery and the judge.

“So, you prayed so Allah would give you a discount for your sins?” asked Assegaf again.

“Yes, Sir. Only Allah can assess whether a sin is big or small. I prayed to win,” Jeffry replied.

This is a guy who openly admitted in court that he gambled. Isn't gambling a crime in Indonesia? The kids at the airport suffered the rule of law whilst this guy makes a joke about it.

And to think that he's a lawyer too!
