In his motion read on Wednesday at the Anti Corruption Court, high profile graft suspect Muhammad Nazaruddin claimed that Democratic Party lawmaker Angelina Sondakh admitted to receiving money related to construction of an athlete inn in Palembang.

Nazaruddin said he heard Angelina’s statement in the room of the Democratic Party faction head on May 12.

Angelina admitted to receiving Rp 9 billion ($990,000) from the Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Andi Mallarangeng and the ministry secretary Wafid Muharram to several lawmakers including Benny K. Harman, Jafar Hapsah, Eddy Sitanggang, Max Sopacua, Mahyudin, Mirwan Amir, Ruhut Sitompul, M. Nasir and himself.

“Angelina admitted to the fact finding team (TPF), she admitted to receiving Rp 9 billion,” Nazaruddin said.

According to Nazaruddin, Angelina said that Rp 8 billion had been given to Mirwan Amir.

Mirwan said the money was not just for him. Anas received Rp 2 billion, faction board members received Rp 1 billion and the rest was given to others including the budget committee.

Nazaruddin also claimed that Anas was given money by construction company Adhi Karya in the amount of Rp 50 billion for his campaign to become the Democratic Party chairman.

“In April 2010, Anas Urbaningrum decided that the winner of the Hambalang project was PT Adhi Karya, instead of PT DGI (Duta Graha Indah),” Nazaruddin said.

Nazaruddin claimed that according to Mindo Rosalina Manulang, DGI could not afford to pay the requested amount of Rp 100 billion to fund the Democratic Party congress.

Amir Syamsuddin, Democratic Party Honorary Council secretary, denied Nazaruddin’s statement.

“She [Angelina] did not say that she received money, it is only Nazaruddin’s statement,” Amir said at the House on Wednesday. “After he [Nazaruddin] ran away and talked to the media, we felt that we needed to solve it, so we questioned Angie.”

He said that Angeline denied the allegations.
