...Nunun seemingly recovered from dementia enabling her to provide detailed information that might open the way for the commission to extend its investigation...

Quite how one recovers from a non-existent affliction must surely be one the annals.

If proven that Nunun is not suffering from dementia or even sick, Adang should be arrested for obstruction of justice and lying to the investigators. Then again this is Indonesia and he is a former high ranking police officer. The laws apply differently to different people in Indonesia

The spokesman of the Corruption Eradication Commission said on Tuesday that Indonesian high profile graft suspect Nunun Nurbaeti gave detailed information to the commission’s investigator despite claiming to suffer from dementia and amnesia.

“Nunun was described as suffering from dementia, but when she was questioned by the KPK, she gave detailed information,” Johan Budi said at his office on Tuesday.

Nunun is a graft suspect in her alleged role of distributing Rp 24 billion ($2.6 million) to lawmakers to help Miranda Goeltom become the senior deputy governor of Bank Indonesia in 2004.

The KPK was not able to find Nunun for months after she left the country. Her husband, a lawmaker and former deputy police chief, Adang Daradjatun, said that she was ill and needed treatment. She was arrested in December 2011 in Thailand.

A day after staying in prison in December, Nunun was taken to the hospital for high blood pressure and stayed there for a week. After returning to the crowded prison, she was taken back to the hospital again last Saturday for high blood pressure and vertigo. Johan said she would be sent back to Pondok Bambu prison on Tuesday night because her health condition has improved.

Nunun seemingly recovered from dementia enabling her to provide detailed information that might open the way for the commission to extend its investigation.

The new chairman of the commission, Abraham Samad said that the KPK would name new suspects who were the masterminds in the bribery case soon.

“It only needs some days, so calm down,” Abraham said. “On Nunun’s case, we will investigate it as deep as possible. It will not stop at this point, we will find the mastermind.”
