Barack Obama is “as disappointed as anybody” about about postponing his visit to Indonesia, he told an Indonesian journalist at the White House.

The US president told RCTI's Putra Nababan on Thursday that moving the trip from March to June would result in a less hectic time here. Currently, he said, he's tied up with the effort to pass the healthcare bill at the center of his legislative agenda.

“It's about to come to a vote and we've been debating this for a whole year and many of those votes were delayed. We contacted the Indonesian government in consultation and I think we agreed that it'd make more sense for me to delay the trip until the summer, until sometime in June. So that I'm not rushed,” said Obama.

He apologized to Indonesians, especially students of his former elementary schools who had prepared performances to welcome him.

“Please let them know Im just as disappointed as anybody," said Obama, who lived in Jakarta for four years as a child. "The only reason we delayed this is because the most important domestic priority here in the US is going to be voted on this weekend or early next week and I have to be there."
