Barack Obama's childhood home and schools are ready for guests, even though the US President is not expected to visit them on his upcoming trip here.

The owner of Obama's old house has kept the original furniture and decor, but there are no pictures of the president or his family, Metro TV reported. Meanwhile, Menteng 01 Elementary School and Santo Fransiskus Asisi Elementary School have planned student performances in case their most famous pupil stops by.

“It's not a problem. We are always ready to welcome President Obama. Whether or not he visits our school, we have prepared a ceremonial welcome. The students have been practicing with the marching band and school choir,” said Ihal, a teacher at Menteng 01.

The White House has said Obama will not take a walk down memory lane by visiting his old haunts.

Meanwhile, University of Indonesia (UI) rector Gumilar R Somantri has clarified that the university will not be the site for a major speech Obama is expected to give on Wednesday.

“Obama won't deliver the speech at UI but in Kemayoran. UI was appointed to be on the event's steering committee along with the National Defense Agency and American Embassy,” said Gumilar.

The address is expected to follow up on one Obama gave in Cairo last year, aiming to reach out to Muslims globally.
