Even if Obama was not President of the USA his mother's work deserves recognition.

Mr. Rules. (we know that it is not ms, miss, or Mrs - unimaginable) This comes from jorok, potty mouth schoolboy.

Mr. Obama is not coming as President of the USA - which you should welcome in any event - you take the aid & assistance money right?

This visit does nothing to enhance a re-election. Mr. Obama was most humbled in being awarded the Nobel Prize for peace. He is here after the well received visit to Mesir exhorting new initiatives in Peace. Mr. Obama is hopeful that Indonesia will continue to be a voice against Islamic extremism. Are you not onboard with that? What is your solution then ... more churches and mosques burnt - tit for tat, spiraling till the situation is no longer controllable?

We can not worship any prince of peace enough.

Note to Ed. Obscene remarks should not be posted here.

Yogyakarta’s Gadjah Mada University will brief US President Barack Obama during his visit to Central Java next month about the university’s plan to give his late mother, Ann Dunham, a posthumous award for her dedication to anthropology economics.

The award would be presented during a conference titled “Local Wisdom Global Solution’’ in October.

The conference steering committee head Wiendu Nuryanti told Republika on Monday that the award would be given to Dunham for her dissertation on microfinancing for small and medium enterprises in Central Java.

She said that a team from the US Embassy had visited the university campus to inspect some locations that Obama may visit.

The intention to give the award, she said, was not just to coincide with Obama’s visit to the university.

“The award will be given to honor his mother’s work as an anthropologist and we have been meaning to do it during the conference. Coincidentally, Obama is scheduled to come here, so we will use the chance to tell him about the award,” Wiendu said.

The conference is expected to attract some high profile guests, including former US Vice President and environmental champion Al Gore and the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus.

Obama, along with his wife Michelle and two daughters Sasha and Malia, will visit in Indonesia from March 20 - 22. He is scheduled to visit a number of locations, including his former elementary school in Menteng, Central Jakarta, and Borobudur Temple outside of Yogyakarta.

Obama spent some of his childhood years in Jakarta where Ann Dunham was married to Indonesia Lolo Soetoro after divorcing Obama’s Kenyan father.
