The Financial Analysis and Transaction Center (PPATK) announced on Tuesday it had found many government officials who acted in corrupt ways similar to Gayus Tambunan.

The PPATK said that since 2002, there have been 1,800 alleged corrupt actions carried out by civil servants, including young civil servants.

The most recent case involves 10 civil servants, between the ages of 28 and 38, who have bank accounts worth billions of rupiah.

“Two of them managed fictitious projects and stole billions of rupiah,” Agus Santoso, deputy head of the PPATK, said on Tuesday. “The wives of these two civil servants spread the money into several accounts, put them in insurance, foreign exchange and bought gold.”

Gayus, a former civil servant working with the Finance Minister, was jailed on graft charges.

“He’s not the only one,” Agus said. “I’ve just read the data for a month, and I’m concerned.”

Agus declined to mention the names of the 10 civil servants, but said the PPATK would submit the names to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the police and let them investigate the case.

KPK deputy chairman M. Jasin said he would be glad to receive the report from the PPATK for further investigation.

“PPATK has a memorandum of understanding [with us], so whether requested or not by the KPK, if there is irregularity regarding cash flow to the account of a civil servant or other state officers, it should be reported to law enforcers.”
