One wonders whether Andi has been involved in similar behavioral incidents' in the past - given the arrogant attitudes and massive senses of entitlement so prevalent amongst the ranks of Lawmakers, the odds are that this is not the first time this fellow has 'crossed the line'.

Also quite ironic that this 'law makers' long waiting period is a result of his own poor performance as someone responsible for transport and infrastructure.

Ah, Indonesia where respect only works up the ladder and if you're at the bottom of the ladder you're nothing but [edit]. People like this amaze me and I await the day a 'lowly' Indonesian smacks one of these self-righteous idiots back.

Legislator Andi Taufan Tiro from the National Mandate Party admitted to getting into an altercation with an airport customs officer on Wednesday, but denied claims that he slapped the man.

Andi, who sits on House’s Commission V overseeing transportation and infrastructure, allegedly yelled at and slapped an unidentified customs officer at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport after becoming aggravated with the slow pace of the re-entry process.

Returning from Narita, Japan, Andi said he had been waiting in line for over an hour.

“I pushed him, but I did not slap him,” Andi confirmed the news when asked by reporters on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred during the Maghrib (dusk) prayer break, according to Andi, and there was only one customs line open.

Andi said that he became angry after questioning why there was only one line open with such a long queue of passengers waiting to re-enter the country.

He claimed that the customs officer on duty responded “arrogantly” to his questions. “Then I pushed him,” Andi said.

Shortly after the incident, a customs supervisor escorted Andi to an office. The lawmaker claimed that at that point he had apologized to customs staffers for his outburst, but he vehemently denied slapping anyone.

“If there was any proof I’d slapped him, do check it on the CCTV. Even report it to the police,” Andi said.

Andi said that he had not identified himself as a House legislator prior to the scuffle, and that it was only afterward that customs officers found out.

Rumors of the alleged slap spread quickly across Twitter and Facebook, with many people chiming in that Andi was abusing his power as a legislator.
