Yeap Val, experienced it before when I was living in SG,one street away from a mosque, same thing 5x a day.I still don't understand why loud speaker is necessary, they're forcing my ears to hear it IN MY OWN HOME!!! Imagine buddhist chants or the christians hillsongs being pumped on loud speaker...Maybe this should be tested :D Anybody in audio-biz here? But I'm tolerant in nature,so after one month my brain learned to un-hear it. But in this tech age loud speaker is irrelevant. I got a better idea for whoever develops iphone/android/bb apps for a living, u can create an app to remind all the muslims to pray with an alarm 5x a day, then automatically connect the nearest mosque's prayer to their phone through voip (and listen through earphone please), or podcast the prayers. That way we can live side by side without anybody disturbing anybody else business, and the rest of us can go on sleeping in peace.

nonredneck...

I am not sure if you are experiencing similar "mental torture" as jchay and myself. For me, it starts at around 03:30 hours every morning. Hello! Hello! I's not from a single Mosque but several. Ya! Sleep with ear plugs on. Hmm...in this country?

A consolation....no wake up call has become necessary.

What's funny is that all the call to prayer are being recited in the Arabic language. You want to tell me the percentage that comprehend?

It's all Pharisaical.

ps

That is what I meant by 'false piety'

“Moreover, they worship on a regular basis. It is a mistake.”

Excuse the langue but they are a bunch of f***ing hypocrits. Mosques blast out in residential areas 5 times every day and on Friday it lasts for hours.

Is it any wonder that a large proportion of the world hates Islam if this is the atitude they take.

Relax peeps, christianity has survived many prosecutions even in north korea & mideast, from the time of roman empire, and they'll survive again despite no churches. Lets look at it this way, low-key christians group working to actually help others and minding their own act VS. the dominant religion which shouts-out condemnation for every single thing non-islam. We have a very good PR case here! Obviously I'm all in for non-religion, but I don't care for your beliefs and I won't force mine, but regardless of our faiths, lets respect humanity and our mother earth, for we can't live alone without our bro&sis and without our mommy earth.

@jchay: Aha! Sentiments shared by many many many people here!

Bogor. A group of people in Parung, Bogor, asked the local government on Thursday to close down a church built in a residential area, adding another religious dispute to the area where the embattled GKI Yasmin church is also located.

“The church [Santo Joannes Baptista] has been there for six years,” said Hasis Jalil, the coordinator of the group that rallied in support of the Cibinong government decision to ban the church on Thursday. “The construction of the church was against the regulation to build a house of worship, because it was built close to private residences.”

The group, calling themselves the Muslim Community of Parung Bogor, placed a banner near the Catholic church Santo Joannes Baptista on Thursday, three days before Christmas, stating that the group supported the district decision to ban church activities.

Bogor district head, Rahmat Yasin, said he did not ban people from worshiping, but worship should take place in an appropriate location.

“The site is not for a church, but it was a house turned into a house of worship. It is a violation,” Rahmat said. “Moreover, they worship on a regular basis. It is a mistake.”

Rahmat said that while the government respected religious rights, the congregation should respect the regulations.

The Cibinong government had earlier issued a letter banning the church from performing any religious activities.

The pastor of the church, Gaib Simbul Pratolo, was surprised to see the banner.

“We have been worshiping peacefully for six years,” Gaib said. “Even the neighborhood chiefs also secure the services.”

The congregation has 2,000 members.

He said the church was built on an empty lot, and has requested a building permit.

“Until now, we’re still waiting for the building permit that has not been issued,” he said.
