Aside from the luxury of traffic-free roads and cleaner air, Jakarta residents who chose to remain in the city for the Idul Fitri holidays have one more reason to enjoy the city.
Jakarta Police announced on Monday that 3-in-1 scheme would not be applied on Jakarta's main roads for the entire week.
The head of Jakarta Police's Information Technology division, Comr. Purwono Pujianto, said there was no reason to implement the traffic-reducing scheme during the holiday.
“The purpose of 3-in-1 is to reduce traffic, so if there is no traffic, it is not necessary,” he said.
The scheme, which prohibits vehicles with less than three people in it from using certain roads during rush hour, will be back in place on Monday, Sept. 5, as most businesses will resume that day.
