The Jakarta Police on Thursday named two members of the People’s
Democratic Defense as suspects in the defamation case filed two days
ago by top government officials accused by them of receiving kickbacks
from the Bank Century bailout.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr.
Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said the warrant would be sent out by the weekend
for coordinator Mustar Bonaventura and member Ferdi Semaun of the
group, also known as Bendera.
The fringe nationalist group
claimed on Monday that it had evidence that Rp 1.8 trillion ($191
million) from the controversial Rp 6.7 trillion Century rescue was
channeled to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s campaign team,
members of his inner circle and state agencies.
Among those
filing the defamation complaint on Tuesday were Coordinating Minister
for the Economy Hata Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal
and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, State Minister for Youth and Sports
Affairs Andi Mallarangeng and Democratic lawmaker Edi Baskoro, the
youngest son of the president.
But Arbi Sanit, a political analyst from the University of Indonesia, said the politicians had overreacted.
“It
shows that they are afraid,” he said. “They have ambiguous moral values
because people in power should not have been too hasty in reporting
people such as Bendera,” he said.
“[Bendera] are small people. Self defense should have been their last resort.”

I believe it's a bad deed of some persons which doesn't represent the whole society. The same case in Indonesia. Torturing animal is a sin .
