An Russian overstayer died of what is believed to be a heart condition in Indonesia’s Immigration Department headquarters in central Jakarta on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Victor Larin, 61.
“He died naturally,” Immigration Department spokesman Herawan Sukoaji said.
Herawan said Larin’s documentation was incomplete and he had been traveling back and forth between the nearby Russian Embassy and Immigration when he collapsed and began convulsing.
Larin, who was accompanied by embassy staff, had been attempting to get an exit permit to leave Indonesia.
Setiabudi Police said it is believed that Larin had succumbed to a heart condition.
His body has been taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy.
