President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and first lady Ani Yudhoyono joined a morning aerobics session at the Trade Ministry on Friday. They were accompanied by Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu and Youth and Sport Minister Andi Mallarangeng.
The session began at 6:30 a.m. but Yudhoyono and Ani only arrived an hour later. Prior to their arrival, the participants danced to dangdut songs such as “Kucing Garong” (“Alley Cat”) and “Jablay” (“Lonely Woman”) led by three instructors. The dangdut songs were soon replaced by Anang’s love ballad “Separuh Jiwaku Pergi” (“Half of my Soul is Gone”).
The morning aerobics session was part of Andi Mallarangeng’s program, introduced when he became the sports minister, but Mari Elka said her ministry had performed morning aerobics long before his time.
“We regularly carry out the aerobics session every Friday morning. We believe sports will make us healthier, more productive and more creative,” Mari Elka told vivanews.com.
After the exercise session, Yudhoyono and Ani browsed the homemade sports products displayed in the ministry’s front yard.
