Sri Mulyani (SM) will be a good candidate for presidency if she can explain to the Indonesian people why she approved the IDR 6.7 Trillion bailout of Bank Century. The bank was a minor bank which catered to a few rich people only, it's not a bank that involved millions of customers. All economists in Indonesia and abroad agreed that if Bank Century was left to banckruptcy it would not have affected Indonesia economic at all. Why then SM spent IDR 6.7 T to bail out the bank? She must explain her reasoning for using tax payer money to bail out a group of rich people.

SM is not as clean as she suggested. She either personally profitted from the bailout or she profitted some one (or a group) at the expense of tax payer money.

SM will be brought to justice at one time, most probably after her tenure at the World Bank is completed. She will not be able to escape the justice system, no one has. Her trial is only delayed because Indonesian does not like to try an incumbent, especially those trusted by international organization such as World Bank. But rest assured that shee will have to go to court and explain why she burned IDR 6.7 Trillion tax payer money.

I hope too that she will run for president. I will however not be easy to find a "clean" political party where she could run... (impossible actually)

Nusa Dua, Bali. Former Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati was the focus of the Indonesian media when she attended a ministerial meeting in Bali on Friday and met with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for the first time since she moved to the World Bank in Washington last year.

Sri Mulyani, representing the World Bank at a finance ministers’ meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, told journalists mobbing her that she had met Yudhoyono, albeit together with other invitees.

“The president and the ministers talked with us from the World Bank about the bank’s views regarding the global challenges, especially of late, relating to food prices and oil prices,” she said.

As Yudhoyono’s finance minister, Sri Mulyani found herself under pressure from a House of Representatives special committee that found a Rp 6.7 trillion ($777 million) bailout of Bank Century she had approved in 2008 was illegal. She resigned to become a managing director at the World Bank.

Sri Mulyani is seen as a possible candidate to run in the 2014 presidential elections.
