Jakarta. The Saudi Arabian woman charged with torturing and disfiguring Indonesian maid Sumiati Mustapa is in solitary confinement in a mental hospital for psychiatric analysis, it was reported on Thursday.

The Al-Watan Arabic daily newspaper, as reported by The Saudi Gazette, quoted a source as saying that the 54-year-old woman, identified only as Z.S., had been taken to the hospital for testing because it was an “important measure usually taken in criminal incidents to determine the extent of the accused person’s responsibility.”

Z.S. was being held in solitary confinement as a “precautionary measure” and was prohibited from receiving guests or taking telephone calls.
