Yesterday's full moon was not its usual size........

Er actually

It was exactly the same size as its been for millions of years. Infact its was that same size even before god even created it what 6000 years ago?

Misleading title....

It was however an inspiring sight and such a wonderful colour as the probably bright reflected moonlight played beautifully through Jakarta's clean air so recently and yet inaccurately lauded by Fuzzy...... I would imagine those say in north Bali or central Kalimanten were green with envy as they have to make do with a totally natural, bright and undiluted view whilst we on the other hand, as priveledged Old Jakartonians managed to view it through the full gaseous spectrum. I was awestruck and paused from my viewing only to cough, wipe the smog from my brow and consider for a moment how the Fpi could get the moon banned for say 25 days a month for being offensive or perhaps if the MUI could issue a fatwah saying only cresent moons are pesmissible and that anyone found looking at a non cresent moon is deviant and therefore should be banned and persecuted. Of course this would only apply to non muslims or those deemed to be non muslim by an unelected and non-authoritive mob of medieval soothsayer. Which as far as I can see if you apply the book of law is about 99% of the polulation. Therefore this leads me to the conclusion that Islam is not actually the majority religion in Indonesia, it is indeed a minority and therefore should recieve the standard 'special attention'...

Yes I have.... and it was red :) :)

Yesterday's full moon was not its usual size.

The 'super moon' is the biggest seen in 20 years. This is because the moon was actually 50,000km closer to Earth yesterday, rather than being on the farthest point of its elliptical orbit.

The last time it was sighted was in March 1993. It is much rarer than the blue moon, which happens once every 21/2 years.

Despite its perceived size, the moon is still about 357,000km away from Earth. The next time such a super moon can be sighted will be in 2029.
