Former chief of detectives Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji left National Police headquarters around 11 a.m. after being summoned to discuss his allegations that three high-ranking officers accepted bribes to drop a tax investigation.
Susno exited through the back door. He curtly summed up the interview as "many topics. I didn't count how many questions,” to waiting reporters before getting into his car. It was unclear whether the questioning was over.
National Police Spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said he did not know whether Susno had left.
“The last time I checked he was still being questioned,” said Edward, declining to give any details. “Everything is still being clarified."
National Police Chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri was not present for the questioning. He was summoned by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for an unscheduled meeting with a number of cabinet members, including Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
Susno was removed as head of the detectives' office last year after being implicated in an apparent conspiracy against two high-ranking anticorruption officials. The National Police responded angrily to his statement earlier this month that the officers took Rp 25 billion ($2.75 million) to drop the case.
