There is nothing new in the incident. The model has been widely used in Indonesia since the Suharto era. If the police is attacked by a press, they will retaliate by bombing the press office. The Police officers knew that they will not win if they sue the press in court today. The only way to retaliate is to activate their thugs group.

The police must've had Ki Gendeng on the line, since they so quickly dismissed police involvement on the attack.

...and the President ordered the National Police chief to investigate the allegations! Who is going to wet the own nest if it brings so much benefits for the brethren? Nobody! I believe that the KPK is the only institution with enough power given to investigate.

And, the comment of the Police spokesman is just a joke, I assume! Or, he really believes that people buy this BS!

Now...Why else would these guys do this?

Just for a bit of fun? Sjeezzz.

Tempo is respected (As far as I know) and this the one the only cases where they really have made some people seriously angry.

I wonder if the police are even going to really investigate.

Like a little kid they are now probably like :NjeNjeNjeNjeNjeNJeeee"

Jakarta Police have denied that three Molotov cocktails thrown at the offices of Tempo were related to the latest edition of the magazine that provide alleged details of six police generals' bulging bank accounts.

Two people wearing black jackets and riding a motorcycle were witnessed throwing the firebombs at the magazine’s editorial offices on Jalan Proklamasi in Menteng, Central Jakarta, early on Tuesday morning.

Only two of the firebombs ignited but caused only minor damage.

Wahyu Muryadi, Tempo’s editor-in-chief, said there had been no injuries.

He said he had lodged a complaint against the “terror” attack with police.

Jakarta Police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said police were investigating but ruled out any link to the controversial article and the cover illustration, which police have threatened to sue over because it depicts a police officer being led by three piggy banks.

Police were forced to reject suggestions that a group of mystery men who purchased about 30,000 copies of the magazine in Jakarta were police officers in a badly botched operation to suppress the story.

The subsequent English-language version appeared to go a step further, titling its article ‘Police in a Poke’ — an idiom in which 'pig' has been replaced by 'police' — and placing one of the piggy bank’s directly over the face of a senior police officer.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday ordered the National Police chief to investigate the magazine’s report.

Police — who continue to be perceived as one of Indonesia’s most corrupt institutions with scant respect for human rights — have so far denied any impropriety.
