Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands. Two seamen are missing, feared dead, after a tugboat sank in Bukit Panglong, Bintan, Riau islands on Sunday.

“Three of the five crew-members were saved and evacuated, but two are still missing,” Tanjung Pinang Search and Rescue (SAR) agency head Bambang Subagyo said.

Bambang said the tugboat, Kijang 3, went down at 5 p.m.

The SAR team, assisted by local fishermen, is still searching for the missing duo near where the vessel sank.

“We have deployed 10 SAR personnel in rubber boats at the location not far from the coast,” he said.

In the meantime, Bintan Timur Police Chief Insp. Dadi P said the tugboat went down after being rammed by a barge it was pulling for repair.
