The Indonesian government will have to wait for some time before it can extradite Umar Patek, because he it is believed the terror suspect was also involved in a terrorist organization in Pakistan, says the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

BIN chief Sutanto told reporters on the sidelines of a working meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission I that Pakistan intended on prosecuting Patek there under Pakistani law.

Sutanto said the Indonesian government would have to exercise patience before it could have him repatriated.

“We are still  coordinating with Pakistan to have Patek extradited to Indonesia to be legally processed at home, but unfortunately he is also involved in violations of the law in Pakistan,” Sutanto said.

Patek was captured, along with his wife, after being injured during a shoot-out with Pakistani security forces.
