395198While it is extremely stupid to burn ANY book that is not ruined, people DO have the RIGHT to be stupid and burn books!!! It's the USA! I think it is a MUCH bigger deal that others will want to harm/kill people because a book was burned... In fact, that may be the point that he is trying to prove, but the liberal-only media will not acknowledge it. If someone burns a bible, it does not affect ME or my beliefs! People have the right in America to burn a bible, a koran, or whatever floats their boat. I would like to say a famous quote. Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it. Are people going to riot and kill others because a book is burned? If so, shame on them. They can join their cartoon-riot buddies in infamy. Is it stupid to burn a perfectly fine book? Yes! Especially when some of the 'targeted' people are so uneducated they cannot HANDLE something so 'tragic' as a book being burned. This fool of a preacher also said, "Jesus would do it." lol. ANYways, cheers to the right to be stupid!
Dear Brothers and Sisters of Faith in the one and only True God,
Please know that all Americans, save 50 mindless followers of this non-christian sect, oppose this action. I am just one man and a Christian who would travel to FL on Saturday and try to stop the planned burning...But, we have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights that gives equal protection under the law to all...even fools.
No matter what happens on Saturday, our one shared God of All wants us to refrain from violence and promote love, honor and respect among all men.
In America, we see daily video of human suicide bombings in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan of Muslims killing Muslims. The image portrayed? Islam promotes, sanctions and uses terror as policy. We know, THIS IS NOT TRUE. But the ignorant here believe it is and can be easily swayed into un-wise and dangerous acts. Just like the recruiters of the suicide boomers who recruit poor, disillusioned and disenfranchised youth to do the bombings. This is shameful and they will be judged harshly by God and man.
Saudi Arabia has the responsibility and moral obligation as the leader of Islam to join the Muslim and non-Muslim world not only in condemning but stopping the killing of the innocent by those who use Islam falsely to further political, secular ambition. We will gladly join your efforts.
Please use this opportunity to promote Peace and condemn War and violence. Let us pray that Saturday's planned event is replaced by a prayer vigil where all faiths join to celebrate what we share in common and condemn what is evil
Sincerely,
Christopher J Ford

This pastor may be an obnoxious troublemaker, but he is only burning books, not people.
What we will see next is murders of westerners by Muslims who protested when people condemned Islam for 911. Anybody spot a contradiction here?
People talks about being different, but still does the same intolerance, barbaric acts.
"United States Appears Powerless to Stop Koran-Burning Ceremony"....Whatever the headline may seem to appear there will certainly be justice for this insane evil pastor. He may claim to be a Christian and a law abiding US citizen but with all the wrong reasons.
This proposed unfortunate church bon fire mission on 9/11 by this anti-Christ pastor does not represent the rest of the Americans and its core values.
The same when an opinionated Indonesian radical gets vocal and commit violent acts with his flocks do not represent the majority Indonesians, religious and cultural values.
Gainesville, Florida. The United States appeared powerless on Tuesday to stop a Florida church from burning hundreds of Korans on the anniversary of 9/11 despite fears of global repercussions.
The White House added its voice to growing concern from military leaders that the incendiary move by a group of American evangelicals could trigger outrage around the Islamic world and endanger the lives of US soldiers.
“It puts our troops in harm’s way. And obviously any type of activity like that that puts our troops in harm’s way would be a concern to this administration,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.
He was reiterating comments by top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, who warned burning the holy book of Islam would provide propaganda for insurgents.
“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort,” Petraeus told The Wall Street Journal in comments echoed later by NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
The top US diplomat, Hillary Clinton, condemned what she called a “disrespectful, disgraceful” act.
But a small Florida church has vowed to mark Saturday’s ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks by burning Korans as they remember the almost 3,000 people killed by Al-Qaeda hijackers.
Although the fire authorities turned down an application a few weeks ago from pastor Terry Jones to hold the open-air burning ceremony, police cannot intervene until they actually light the 200 Korans.
Even then, no arrests would be made as contravening local ordinances is only a misdemeanor, and citations — fines and warnings — are issued in such cases.
Jones said the Koran torching aimed “to remember those who were brutally murdered on September 11,” and to send a warning “to the radical element of Islam.”
The move comes against a backdrop of Islamophobia driven by plans to build an Islamic cultural center in New York close to Ground Zero, the site where the World Trade Center stood before it was destroyed in the 2001 attacks.
US Attorney General Eric Holder met religious leaders to discuss ways of stemming the anti-Islam tide, with calls from the broad coalition of faiths to make a strong speech condemning hate crimes.
Muslim Advocates executive director Farhana Khera said after the meeting that Holder had described the Koran-burning plan as “idiotic and dangerous,” but regretted the ceremony itself was not a violation of federal law.
Saturday’s anniversary is also set to coincide with festivities for Idul Fitri, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a time of prayer and fasting for nearly a billion and a half Muslims worldwide.
Clinton’s spokesman Philip Crowley earlier denounced Jones’s plans as “provocative” and “un-American,” insisting that freedom of religion was a pillar of American society.
“We would like to see more Americans stand up and say that this is inconsistent with our American values,” he added. “The potential act of burning a Koran ... is contrary to our values, contrary to how civil society has emerged in the country.”
But Jones, who heads the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville Florida, remained defiant, saying “we have firmly made up our mind” to go ahead despite taking Petraeus’s words seriously.
“Instead of us being blamed for what other people will do or might do, why don’t we send a warning to them? Why don’t we send a warning to radical Islam and say, don’t do it. If you attack us, if you attack us, we will attack you.”
Religious bigotry was roundly condemned at a press conference called by the coalition of inter-faith leaders meeting with Holder.
“To those who would exercise derision ... bigotry, open rejection of our fellow Americans for their religious faith, I say shame on you,” said Richard Cizik, one of the country’s most prominent evangelical leaders.
“We are profoundly distressed and deeply saddened by the incidents of violence committed against Muslims in our communities. And by the desecration of Islamic houses of worship,” added Rabbi Nancy Kreimer.
There have already been protests in the Afghan capital Kabul and in Indonesia against Koran-burning plans.
And Iran has warned it could unleash an uncontrolled Muslim response.
“No one should burn the Koran,” the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano said in a commentary.
