Maybe, just maybe, Wa Ode will be less enthusiastic in future about going around crying out wolf in a loud voice ad infintum and accusing others of corruption. Yet another case of : as ye sow, so shall ye reap.

The Corruption Eradication Commission arrested lawmaker Wa Ode Nurhayati on Thursday for allegedly receiving a Rp 6 billion ($672,000) bribe in exchange for supporting Aceh’s infrastructure budget last year.

Johan Budi, spokesman for the commission known as the KPK, said Wa Ode would be held at the Pondok Bambu Women’s Penitentiary in East Jakarta.

“To support the investigation, we are arresting the suspect W.O.N.,” he said referring to the National Mandate Party (PAN) politician by her initials.

Wa Ode endured around 11 hours of questioning at the KPK headquarters before she was officially detained.

She left the building at 8:55 p.m. on Wednesday under close guard of KPK officials who escorted her to a prisoner transport vehicle standing by. Before entering the car, she hugged her sister Wa Ode Nurzaenab, who was accompanying her, and bid farewell to her team of lawyers.

Wa Ode is accused by the KPK of misusing her position as a House of Representatives Budget Committee member to rig the allocations process for the Accelerated Fund for Regional Infrastructure Development (DPPID).

Before her arrest, Wa Ode said she would divulge details that she claimed would implicate the leadership of the Budget Committee in the bribery scandal.

“I will provide all the data to investigators,” Wa Ode told reporters before her questioning.

She confirmed that the KPK had frozen all of her bank accounts, including the one used for her parliamentary salary.

“Yes, they’re all blocked,” she said. “Even my wages account has been blocked.”

However, she said, her family was covering her living expenses. “I receive a daily allowance from my family,” Wa Ode added.

Investigators allege that another suspect, businessman Fahd Arafiq, asked the PAN politician to ensure that funding was allocated for projects in three Aceh districts, Aceh Besar, Pidie and Bener Meriah.

Wa Ode allegedly received about Rp 6 billion in October and November 2010, but because the budget allocation was not approved, she was asked to return the money.
