West Java Police Officer In Critical Condition After Shooting Incident

Police are still investigating an incident in Garut, West Java where a Bandung police officer was shot multiple times on Monday night. The officer, Chief Brig. Endang Wahyu, is still hospitalized and in a critical condition.

Garut Police Chief Adjunct Sr. Comsr. Amur Candra said police were still investigating the case.

“The victim was riding a motorbike with a relative’s child when somebody who was also riding a motorbike approached him and shot him. We are still investigating the case,” Amur told RCTI.

He said the victim suffered three bullet wounds to the chest, waist and back. The wound on his back was predicted to be the exit wound from the shot aimed at his chest.

Police were still identifying the bullets used, which were still lodged inside the victim’s body. Police had also questioned a number of witnesses, including the 12-year-old boy who was riding with the officer.

The officer is being treated at Sartika Asih Hospital in Bandung. Police blocked the roads around the location of the attack and conducted raids on motorbikes. Police believed the perpetrator knew the victim’s routine well. Endang was in Garut to visit his wife and his family who lived there.

Meanwhile, a police officer reportedly beat a man to death in Bogor, West Java. Nofriato, 30, a cellular phone vendor in Anyar Market, Bogor, was allegedly beaten up by an officer identified only as Gun after he accused the victim of having an affair with his girlfriend.

Nofriato died on the way to the hospital. The rogue police officer was arrested four hours later by Bogor Police.

Metro TV reported that he was detained along with his girlfriend. During questioning, Gun allegedly said he beat up the victim because he was jealous. The case is under investigation by Central Bogor Police.
