Well done to all the people that donated at Murphys.

The total raised is impressive and shows us that despite all the crap, greed and arrogance we see in Jakarta, some people do still care.

RIP Memey.

padt....

Allow me to quote Matt 19:14........

"Suffer little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven."

For those who believe, this child is now with the Lord in heaven. No more pain to bear.

My deepest sympathies go to the parents and family of this beloved child. God is good.

Sad, very sad.

As you say, perhaps something good can continue out of this unfortunate end. I say, continue, because the good has already begun. People cared and did something. And that in itself is hopeful and life giving.

Darling baby. May she rest in peace. I hope her parents have the comfort and support they need at this time from family and friends. And I am sure they have this also from the Murphy's community.

Meisya, or Memey, a two-year-old who captured Jakarta’s attention when her family could not afford the medical treatment she needed, died on Tuesday at RSCM Hospital in Menteng.

Last Tuesday a charity night was held at Murphy’s bar in Kemang to raise donations for Memey’s treatment. Around 200 people attended the event and the auction, ticket sales and donations raised Rp 150 million ($16,650).

Killian Murphy, the general manager of Murphy’s bar, explained some of the money will be used for Memey’s funeral.

“We will make sure and cover all funeral arrangement costs for Memey’s family, which will be tomorrow morning,” he said.

Murphy said he has to determine the amount of remaining funds and how they will be used.

Murphy said Memey’s death was a terrible shock for her family. Memey’s condition had been improving since she checked into RSCM Hospital on Thursday. Memey slipped into coma today and only survived for a short time.

Memey had been suffering from several complications from typhoid, a brain infection and four other complications and had been hospitalized at Ciawi State Hospital in Bogor for the last three months.

Although the situation is tragic, Killian hopes some good may come from it.

“I think it could be the beginning of a new charity in memory of Memey.”
