Probably time to set up a committee to investigate this situation.

Well, one of these days he'll become an "ordinary" personality and perhaps will be compelled to use the road. Maybe then will he realize the trauma and stress we are confronted with each day on the roads. In fact, I do believe that he IS aware of the traffic conditions and the total waste of energy vehicular traffic uses each day. Is he NUTS....not understand the situation?

Is there any way we can make the president be 'aware and concerned' about the untouchable, unstoppable FPI ?

Well Julian sweety, Yudhoyono maybe 'Aware and Concerned', but that is pretty standard churned out garbage for his majesty nowadays. The fact is that he has the same attitude to every other member of his elite governing force. They really don't give a dam. Mr P seems to be surfacing as a rather frightening non entity: a puppet.

"The President of Indonesia is apparently aware of so many things, unfortunately, he seems to live in a sort of dream world" [Peter R's spot on analysis]. He does very little to affect meaningful change. For someone who so lionizes Obama SBY has done appallingly little with his 'mandate for change'.

Julian Aldrin Pasha, the presidential spokesman, said that “the president himself is aware and concerned” about a journalist's open letter that described the trauma he experienced at the hands of the president's security convoy, or Patwal.

Julian, who admitted that he did not directly witness the incident, said that the wrongdoing committed by members of the Patwal does not necessarily mean that it happened intentionally.

“If there is [ill-intention], the government truly regrets it,” Julian said.

“We realize that there needs to be internal coordination to prevent incidences that are unsympathetic to or create discomfort for other vehicles users,” he said, adding that similar incidents have happened before.

“This calls for introspection within the presidential guard to make sure that there are no actions done outside the standard operating procedures.”

Julian said that the presidential palace has internal mechanisms to investigate the regrettable incident, and said that it would not ignore it.

Julian also said that the government is currently addressing the issue of how the president's security convoy causes traffic jams.

“We're trying as much as we can to create less disruption and especially to limit traffic jams for other travelers,” he said, adding that the directive comes straight from the president.

The president was reacting to a letter from the chief editor of an automotive magazine who was given conflicting directions by a presidential guard, and then berated for not following the instructions.

He was subjected to a litany of verbal abuse which caused the journalist's daughter to become upset and for him to fear that the officer would become physically violent. In his letter, he implored the president to move from Cikeas to prevent the recurring traffic jams.
