Unfortunatly it is often religious based reasons that allows the humiliation, degregation and in some cases murder of people - If you can correlate a Christian law adopted in any country which supports and legitimises abuse then your arguement may have grounds but you cannot I think.

Here we have Islamic law dictating national law. That my freind is very dangerous - Christianity realsied this centuries ago

It is without question the absorbing of Islamic principles into national law that allows caning in aceh for kissing to beheading in Saudi.

Evil people do evil things all over the world - but when it is justified by God then its somewhat different since they are claiming legitimacy for act - govts as well as individuals

PS - The Arab countries and their doctrines are becoming more and more the global face of Islam - just take a look around you and see the growth in jilbabs, the number of men wearing white robes, the laws and actions being passed - or perhaps you prefer the denial route

It is not a surprise to me that we are seeing a schism in Islam = one portion peddling for peace and the other peddling for jihad. At the moment Id say the violent party is winning - but hey bury your head in the sand what do I know it could easily be a zionist plot

Arab countries are not necessary represent true islam as well as european or american to christian. Everycountry has it is own problem and should not always correlate to what their people believe, many due to lack of law enforcement or rampant corruptions trigger the people act. I support stopping our woman worker to Arab, to Malaysia or other countries. Our woman should be stay in the country, get education and jobs as good as or even better than our men for Indonesian future. Since our next generation is on their hands. It is also agains islamic teaching for woman to travel alone without kindship accompany.

All Indonesian workers are at risk in any Arab country since this is a part of the Arab mentality to treat foreign workers as inferiors. Having an Egyptian boss and having lived and worked in the Middle East allows me to speak so. Do not forget that Arabs were involved in slave trading long time after the westerners stopped it. Sadly, some Asian countries people are also treating these poor TKI workers badly. It is definitely time for this country to be more selective where it is sending its citizens and to provide them with more jobs here.

Minister for manpower and transmigration Muhaimin Iskandar said he considers Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries the most dangerous countries for Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) and promised to withdraw all workers from those regions.

“We will gradually withdraw our domestic workers in those countries because of the level of danger,” Muhaimin said in a public discussion held by news radio station Trijaya FM in Jakarta on Saturday.

Moreover, Muhaimin said that his ministry has tightened the requirements for sending domestic workers to Middle Eastern countries since January.

As a result, he claimed that starting this year Indonesia only sent 12,000 workers to the Middle East each month, far less than last year's 30,000 to 50,000 per month.

The recent execution of Indonesian maid Ruyati binti Sapubi in Mecca last week has sparked anger in Indonesia, with the public accusing the government of not doing enough to protect migrant workers in Saudi Arabia.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Thursday condemned Ruyati's execution, saying that it “broke the norms and manners of international relations.” He said the government would form a task force to follow up on legal cases involving migrant workers.

“I have already decided to put a moratorium on sending migrant workers to Saudi Arabia until there is agreement on the framework to protect our workers,” President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Friday. “We must create more job opportunities.”
