He said Nazaruddin remained in Singapore because he felt that honesty still exists in Singapore.

Ah, the legendary OC. Like the legendary Hotshot Paris, long one of Indonesia's greatest shyster ambulance chasers. So he's emerged again to once more suck on the corruption teat. Not a great one for pro bono work I'm guessing.

Senior lawyer O.C. Kaligis has been appointed to represent Muhammad Nazaruddin in the alleged corruption in the construction of the athletes' village for the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang.

Kaligis said he had met with the Democratic lawmaker in Singapore on Thursday.

“Yesterday [Thursday], the letter appointing me as a legal representative was signed. I will defend Nazaruddin with another lawyer from Singapore,” Kaligis told SCTV on Friday.

He said Nazaruddin remained in Singapore because he felt that honesty still exists in Singapore.

Nazaruddin had snubbed two summonses from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for questioning regarding the graft case. The commission planned to fly to Singapore and pick him up by force.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party officials claimed they had lost contact with the former party treasurer.

“We don't know where Nazaruddin is. We can only wait for his calls because his phone is unreachable,” Johny Allen, a party official, said.
