Brasilia, Brazil. The government says it will investigate whether China is shipping shoes to Brazil via Indonesia and Vietnam in order to avoid paying an antidumping tariff.

Brazil says China practices disloyal competition with its low-cost footwear exports and since last year it has been levying a tariff of $13.85 per pair.

The Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade says in a statement released Wednesday that it suspects Chinese footwear manufacturers send their products through Vietnam and Indonesia and labels them as made there to bypass the tariff.
