In gratitude, the mayor of Bekasi will also be donating.

Nah! 160 meters isn't tall enough! How tall was the Tower of Babel?

So then, Bekasi will be THE TOURIST MAGNET for boasting with its very own 160 meters tall twin!) minarets!

And who pays for it? Ah, I see the funding has already be pledged by the good brothers of the Saudi and Brunei embassy...all clear now!

I see... more radical Islamic money buying influence*** building mosques but ignoring poverty and education - thats nice

On the reverse I noted that one of Indonesia's Christian organisations has managed to raise Rp50 billion to fund medical and educational centres in Kalimanten...

I ask which is most benefit to the poor, needy and indeed Indonesia?

A mosque extension OR schools and medical centres in areas of poverty...

***SBY thats a clue as to how Indonesia has become radical BTW

Administrators of the Nurul Islam Mosque in Bekasi announced on Wednesday an ambitious plan to expand the mosque to half a hectare and build twin minarets rising 160 meters high.

Abid Marzuki, the mosque secretary, said the aim was to make it the tallest structure in Bekasi and an icon of the cityscape.

The Rp 40 billion project will turn the existing mosque, at under 1,000 square meters, into the forecourt for a three-story, 5,000-square-meter mosque capable of holding 4,000 worshipers.

Abid said funding for the project had already been pledged by the Saudi and Brunei embassies, among other foreign embassies. He added that once complete in two years’ time, the mosque was expected to boost Islamic-based businesses in the area.
